Single Session Therapy
What is single session therapy (SST)?
Research shows that one or two therapy sessions are sometimes all that is required. Single session therapy works on the premise that the first therapy session may be the last – but that additional sessions are always possible where needed. The client and therapist work together on finding a solution to a specified problem, enabling the client to leave with an idea of what they want to achieve and what is needed to set them on a path towards positive change.
SST at the Goddard Clinic
Since the first session may be the last, you are asked to complete a questionnaire in advance. This helps to structure the session to gain maximum effect. If you are unsure as to whether SST would be useful for you, it might be helpful to have a look at the pre-session questionnaire: Please click here to see the questions.
What problems can SST help me with?
Almost any problem (including those that are severe and longstanding) where guidance with finding answers for change is the goal. It is not appropriate where an in-depth understanding of how the problem evolved is desired.
