Therapy for problems related to autism at The Goddard Clinic
Autism is a lifelong condition that affects how an individual communicates, and perceives the world around them. Autistic people can have special talents and gifts but the way in which they experience the world can also put them at risk of stress and of developing a mood-related disorder.
Dr Lorna Goddard has a wealth of experience both in researching autism and in helping autistic people (adults and older adolescents). Her mission is to find the right therapeutic strategies to suit the individual. The interventions that she uses are often derived from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). However, CBT does not work for all and hypnosis offers an alternative approach which Lorna has found successful with some austic clients, particularly for anxiety problems. She has also helped her autistic clients with a form of memory specificity training which focuses on increasing memory for personal experiences.
